Stars in my Mama's Kitchen

Remember me?
I've been out of your radar for some time now, but that doesn't mean I haven't been busy.
Quilting and other things.
I have so much to tell you and I hope you'll listen (read).

I am making a quilt for my mum who celebrated her 81st birthday last week.
The top is nearly ready and then I need to quilt it; perhaps just straight lines diagonally both ways.
I am currently sewing borders to it; a red, a flowery and then a wider red one.
It's red and flowery; I'll show it when it's quilted (don't know how yet).
Well ok, here's a sneak peak:

I showed my mum some of my fabrics so she could choose, and she chose a double jelly roll (20 pieces width of fabric and 5" wide) I bought in the UK last year. Perhaps you know the right name for that kind of precut?
I chose the background color, she wanted a dark background color if she spilled coffee on it ...
And she chose the pattern: The Stars in Mama's Kitchen which can be found here.

This Monday Google Reader will be dead and you'll have switched to Feedly or Bloglovin or perhaps another possibility to read your favourite blogs.
I hope I'll still be on that list.

See you soon
(that's a promise!)

  1. Your mum is a very clever lady - I think dark fabric to hide coffee stains is a great idea. I am making some cushion covers that have somehow turned out to be very pale (this is the problem with making it up as you go!) and I'm wondering how they will go with 4 kids. Gulp.
P.S. I think you might have missed a bit of the code for your bloglovin' button, as it should be a little picture, not the code. Perhaps you could try again? (I'm reading you from Feedly right now!) x x
